April Showers Bring May Flowers

After our perfect sunny vacations, we came back to 40-degree weather. It stayed cold for a couple weeks and then when it finally warmed up it rained and rained and rained!!!! It has been raining for about 3 weeks! I started nights when we got back from Florida and came out of orientation and started on my own April 6. Sam and I haven’t had much time together this month because we’ve been on opposite schedules and I have had to drive to Evansville twice this month for my Research class. The two weekends I’ve had off work, went to Cincinnati and Evansville.

Friday April 15 we went to Cincinnati for a Reds v. Pirates game with Anna and Joe. It was our first Reds game! It rained for about ten minutes but we were troopers and had a blast. I love Anna and Joe, they’re just as silly as Sam. I think we spent most of our time dancing around and screaming, trying to get on the big screen!! And they never put us on, it was ridiculous!! After the game we went to a college house party (friend of Joe’s). Sam and I felt crazy old haha! I think the party was for someone’s 19th birthday! Just reminded me of how happy I am with where we are in life and how grateful I am to have found my perfect man! Sam and I always have fun together, no matter where we are, even when we’re about 4 years older than everyone else. We turned the party into a dance party. Everything from Rascal Flatts to Backstreet Boys to Justin Bieber to rap. It was awesome!! Sam, Joe, and I walked home around 4:30am, it was a great night!

Saturday April 23 we drove to Evansville to spend Easter weekend with my family. We spent most of Saturday relaxing. We had dinner at the Carousel with Mom, Jeffrey, Ash & Billy, Kaysee & Kenny, and Kyllee. Then we went back to Ashley’s to hang out. Sunday morning Sam and I went to church with Ashley and Billy at First Christian Church for the Easter service. Then we went to Dad’s for lunch. He grilled burgers and brats (enough for 20 people). After lunch we headed to Tennyson to my aunt Shannon’s. This was Sam’s first time in Tennyson. Billy and Ash did a good job of warning him about all the kids, haha. Of course it rained all weekend, so we didn’t get to have the Easter egg hunt. We had a good time but it was a short weekend and it just makes me miss everyone! I don’t know when we will make back down to Evansville, probably not until Jess’s wedding in June. My sister and Billy are planning to visit May 14-16!!

I hope May brings LOTS of flowers!!!!!!!!

Florida- Our 1st Vacation!!

Sam and I took our first vacation together!! Honestly, it was the best vacation I’ve ever been on (so far)! We didn’t do anything special, it was just so good to be right next to each other for 5 days.

Our flight left at 5 or 6 am out of Columbus. I have no idea the times because I was not in charge of our itinerary. I was in charge of packing the suitcase.  I am not allowed to be in charge of times, and I prefer that Sam is not in charge of organizing or cleaning, so it works out perfectly J Anyway… we stayed the night at Anna’s and woke up bright and dark around 4:30 am, very ready for our trip!! Sam was so excited he was running in circles around Anna’s car in 30-degree weather and laughing hysterically at his own jokes on the way there. Even though Anna and I didn’t have quite as much energy, we found it pretty funny! We connected in Atlanta and flew into West Palm Beach, Florida. We were SO excited for our first flight together! Honestly, we made every situation and every minute of this trip so much fun for one another!!

We made it to Palm Beach and the shuttle took us to our rental car. A surprise to me, Sam rented a Jeep!! We could only take the top off the front half but it was still pretty awesome! From the airport we drove about 20 minutes to Rushi’s apartment and the three of us went for some lunch at Guanabanas Grill. I liked this place, it was on the water and there was no roof. Love how that’s not a necessity in Florida! We had some Margarita’s and Loaded Corona’s and went back to Rushi’s apartment. After some good drinks and traveling all day, we were in a need of a long nap (imagine that). Then we woke up went to Duffy’s Sports Bar & Grill for dinner, beer, and to watch the Ohio State v. Kentucky game. The next day we headed out and drove about 4 hours to Siesta Key! Riding in a Jeep in 90 degree weather across hot Southern Florida was exactly what I needed after that horribly cold Ohio winter!! Needless to say, even our hot 4 hour drive was fun!! And we definitely got some sun!

We made it to the condo at Jamaica Royale and were greeted by Sam’s mom, dad, and brother Joe! We immediately went to the beach. The beaches at Siesta Key are gorgeous, I love white sand!! Saturday night we went to Phillippi Creek for dinner and then picked up Anna at the airport. Anna was ready to go out, so Sam, Anna and I went down to Ocean Boulevard to Daiquiri Deck and Siesta Key Oyster Bar. The next morning on Sunday, I was pretty hung over and my sweet Sam took care of me and stayed with me all morning. Eventually I crawled to the beach around noon, but laying on the beach is a pretty good way to get through a hang over!! Sunday night we went to dinner at Caragiulos with everyone: Sam’s parents, Anna, the Grandpas, and Craig & Addy. Joe had to fly back Sunday afternoon.

Monday was my favorite day!! We spent the whole day at the beach!! It did start raining pretty crazy just before we left for dinner! And continued to monsoon all night long! We went to Captain Curt’s for dinner with the grandpas and the Taylor’s and then stayed after for a while at the bar, drank some beer and listened to a Beatles band. This was definitely my favorite day! Too bad we had to leave the next day!

Tuesday we made it out to the beach early and had to leave around 4 to catch our flight home. We made it back to Columbus around 1am?? I think, and then drove back to Dayton, crawled in bed and the vacation was over L But Sam and I had fun every minute of it, including the traveling. Way too short, but it was soooo good!! Here are a lot of pics from our first vacation!!
